The Power of Six
Six million is a very big number. You watch sports, follow players, understand payroll and the [eroding] free-market system, and you see lots of numbers. After a while, looking at a number like 6,000,000 should phase you. I mean really punch you in the mouth. But for some reason it doesn?t.
So let?s take a step back. I?m going to go out on a limb and guess that 99.9% of people reading this article don?t have six mil (or five, or four, or three?) to their names. So, here is a little bit of perspective. $6MM gets you ALL of the following
*
35,294 lower-lower-bowl tickets at the Joe (that?s
430 seasons ? over
5 lifetimes ? of you and your friend or whoever going to
every regular-season home game
*
142,857 plastic bottles of Miller Lite at the Joe to drink during those games (that?s 3 beers per game for you and 1 per game for your wife)
*
83,333 Little Caesars pepperoni pizzas to go with those brews (a 2:1 beer-to-pizza ratio ? sounds right to me)
*
4,444 authentic Hasek Jerseys (so when you get drunk and full of pizza and throw one out onto the ice from your kick-ass lower bowl seat in your 134th season in your 2nd lifetime in that seat during the second home playoff game against Vancouver, it?s ok, because you have 4,443 more)
Or:
*
1 Steve Yzerman (a.k.a. priceless)
